It is that time of year again. Flu season is upon us! Everyone is at risk, but particularly vulnerable to hospitalization and death from the flu are the young, the elderly, the immunocompromised, the pregnant, and those with underlying medical conditions.

Each year the flu is responsible for half a million hospitalizations and 50,000 deaths. As many people die of the flu as die from colon cancer (the second leading cause of cancer deaths). Like colon cancer, the flu is also preventable. Get vaccinated!

It is a myth that the vaccine can cause flu. People may get a rare febrile reaction to the vaccine, but that is not the flu. It is not true that the flu vaccine causes any disease. So help yourself and help the community by getting yourself immunized!
